Sleek Neck Rejuvenation

Introduction to Neck Lift

For some people, the most frustrating aspect of neck aging is that it has very little to do with weight. They exercise consistently, maintain a healthy lifestyle, and take good care of themselves, yet they continue to notice fullness beneath the chin, loose skin along the neck, or a loss of jawline definition. Unfortunately, these concerns are often caused by changes in skin elasticity, muscle position, and genetics rather than excess body fat alone.

A neck lift can address the deeper anatomical structures responsible for these changes by treating loose skin, weakened muscles, and age-related tissue descent to create a smoother, more sculpted contour beneath the chin and along the neck. For patients in San Antonio who feel their neck no longer reflects the effort they put into maintaining their appearance, a neck lift can deliver results that diet and exercise alone cannot achieve.

What is a Neck Lift?

A neck lift is a surgical procedure that improves the appearance of the neck and jawline by addressing loose skin, excess fat, muscle laxity, and age-related tissue descent. While many people associate neck aging solely with excess skin, the reality is that multiple anatomical structures contribute to an aging neck appearance. Skin loses elasticity; underlying muscles begin to separate and sink vertically; fat accumulates superficial to and deep to the muscle layer beneath the chin; and deeper tissues, such as salivary glands and muscles, thicken and gradually descend.

During neck lift surgery, Dr. Stallworth evaluates each of these contributing factors individually. Treatment may involve tightening the platysma muscles, removing excess fat, repositioning or removing deeper tissues, eliminating loose skin, or combining several techniques, with the goal not simply a tighter neck but rather a more defined jawline and a smoother, more youthful profile that complements the rest of the face.

Who Are the Best Candidates for a Neck Lift?

One of the most interesting things about neck lift patients is that many are bothered by their neck long before they become concerned about their face. They may notice that photographs consistently capture fullness beneath the chin, that turtlenecks and high collars have become wardrobe staples, or that they find themselves adjusting camera angles during video calls. Often, the neck becomes the area that makes them feel older than they actually feel.

For this reason, at our San Antonio office, we often work with:

  • Individuals bothered by loose skin beneath the chin or along the neck
  • Patients with loss of jawline definition
  • Adults with visible neck bands or muscle laxity
  • Healthy individuals seeking long-term neck rejuvenation
  • Patients with realistic expectations regarding surgical improvement

What Are the Benefits of a Neck Lift?

Clean contours, strong definition beneath the jawline, and a smooth transition from the chin to the neck often characterize a youthful neck. A neck lift can address several age-related changes that disrupt these features because it:

  • Improves loose or sagging skin beneath the chin and along the neck
  • Creates greater jawline definition and contour
  • Reduces the appearance of neck bands caused by muscle separation
  • Improves profile appearance from multiple angles
  • Produces long-lasting rejuvenation that cannot be achieved through skincare alone

Combining My Neck Lift with Other Procedures

The neck does not age independently from the rest of the face. For many patients, combining a neck lift with complementary procedures creates more balanced rejuvenation and allows multiple concerns to be addressed during a single recovery period.

A facelift and neck lift are among the most frequently paired facial rejuvenation procedures. In Dr. Stallworth’s hands and experience, an isolated neck lift is only ideal in patients under 40.  While a neck lift improves contour beneath the jawline, a facelift addresses jowls, tissue descent, and aging in the lower face. Together, they create a smoother transition from the cheeks to the jawline and neck, producing comprehensive rejuvenation that appears cohesive and natural. Aging is a more vertical, gravitational phenomenon, and to only address the neck, we are unable to vertically restore the tissue position to its native location higher in the face.  These are issues that will be discussed during in-person consultation.

How to Begin Your Neck Lift Journey

Many patients arrive expecting their concerns to be caused by a single issue, only to discover that several anatomical factors are contributing to the appearance of their neck. Excess fat, muscle laxity, skin quality, bone structure, and facial aging can all influence neck contours. Understanding which of these factors is present is one of the most important parts of the consultation process.

A consultation is also an opportunity to discuss these concerns, as well as recovery expectations, treatment goals, and long-term outcomes. Patients at our San Antonio office often leave with a much clearer understanding of both the aging process and the options available to address it.

You can expect to:

  1. Undergo a comprehensive facial and neck evaluation
  2. Discuss the specific concerns affecting your profile and neck contour
  3. Review your medical history and overall health
  4. Explore surgical options tailored to your anatomy
  5. Receive a customized treatment plan and detailed cost estimate

What to Expect on the Day of Neck Lift Surgery

Neck lift surgery is performed on an outpatient basis under general anesthesia here in San Antonio. On the day of surgery, Dr. Stallworth will review the treatment plan, answer any final questions, and make surgical markings that guide the procedure. These markings are carefully designed around your anatomy and the specific changes being addressed.

Once surgery begins, attention is focused on correcting the structural causes of neck aging rather than simply tightening the skin. Excess fat may be removed, platysma muscles may be tightened and repositioned, and loose skin may be carefully redraped to improve contour. For deeper structural contouring, the submandibular gland and digastric musculature can also be debulked.

Following surgery, patients spend time in recovery before returning home the same day.

Neck Lift Recovery

Your Guide to Post-Neck Lift Care

Recovery from a neck lift often surprises patients because much of the healing occurs beneath the surface. While bruising and swelling are visible during the first several weeks, the deeper tissues are also adapting to their new position. It is common for the neck to feel tight, firm, or slightly restricted during this period as the tissues heal and settle.

During the first week, patients should focus on rest, hydration, and swelling management. Bruising and swelling are expected, and wearing a compression garment may be recommended to support healing.

Activities that require significant neck movement or physical exertion are temporarily restricted to protect the surgical result.

As recovery progresses, swelling gradually decreases and neck contours become more apparent. Final improvements may continue developing for several months as residual swelling fully resolves.

How Much Does a Neck Lift Cost in San Antonio?

The cost of a neck lift in San Antonio varies from patient to patient, depending on the complexity of the procedure, anesthesia fees, facility costs, and whether additional procedures are performed at the same time. A patient requiring extensive muscle tightening, skin removal, and facial rejuvenation may have different surgical needs than someone seeking more limited contouring.

When considering neck lift surgery, it is helpful to think beyond the neck itself. Improvements to the jawline, profile, and lower facial contours often contribute significantly to the overall result. Following a consultation and facial analysis, Dr. Stallworth will provide a personalized quote based on your anatomy, treatment goals, and recommended surgical plan.

Dr Rokosz is one classy person!

She listens patiently, tells you what you need to hear and does not waver in her stance on things. I asked her opinion on outcome to expect for a procedure i was entertaining to get and I was disappointed in what she said. She understood that it wasn’t what I wanted to hear but she held her ground and was empathetic. It’s hard to want one thing but reality is not always the outcome we want!

She never makes you feel pressured into any kind of decision and is supportive in helping you figure out what will be best for you! I just love her and highly recommend her for any plastic surgery you may need. I am 3 weeks PO from an arm lift and breast lift …both are doing quite well! As i said ..one classy lady!!
