What to Expect On the Day of Liposuction
Dr. Rokosz will guide you through a thorough pre-operative consultation to evaluate your health, outline your goals, and determine the right liposuction method. General anesthesia is commonly used, but some cases may be addressed while awake in the office with well-injected numbing medication. Depending on the treatment areas, the procedure can take 1–3 hours and is often performed as an outpatient surgery.
On the day of surgery:
- You’ll receive local anesthesia, sedation, or general anesthesia
- Tiny incisions are made near the target area
- Tumescent fluid is injected throughout the surgical site and allowed time to dwell
- A cannula is inserted to loosen and suction out fat
- The tiny incisions are loosely closed to allow the release of extra fluid
- Bandages and compression garments are applied
